About me

News, Editorial, PR and Commercial Photographer

In 1988 I studied Fine Art and B&W photography at Plymouth College of Art & Design followed by Editorial and Advertising Photography at Gloucester College of Art and Technology in 1989.
After graduating in 1991 I became a photographers assistant in London and worked in Oxford and the Southwest as a photographer and Photographer Trainer before traveling the world as a Cruise Ship photographer and Gallery Manager, building up a portfolio of travel photography. Returning to my home county in Cornwall in 2002, I joined ’Apex News & Pictures’ agency, providing images for the Cornish Guardian and National press. In 2006 I became a staff photographer for Western Morning News, taking photographs for editorial features and covering major news events as well as travelling abroad for news stories relevant to the West Country and travel features for the travel pages.

Since 2012 I have operated as a freelance photographer covering the West Country, mainly Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, but also further afield and abroad.
The assignments I have covered have taken me all over the world including France, Holland, Norway, India, Nepal and Afghanistan.

My work appears in regional and national papers and magazines and has appeared in papers in the US and Australia including photographs of the Boscastle flash flood in 2004. In 2009 The Western Morning News won EDF Front Page of the year with one of my images covering the dramatic story on the TB virus in cows.
