Emily studied Fine Art and B&W photography at Plymouth College of Art & Design followed by Editorial and Advertising Photography at Gloucester College of Art and Technology.
She became a photographers assistant in London before traveling the world as a photographer on cruise ships and building up a portfolio of travel photography. After returning to her home county in Cornwall in 2002, she joined the ’Apex News Pictures’ team, providing images for the Cornish Guardian and National press. In 2006 she became a staff photographer for Western Morning News, taking photographs for editorial features and covering major news events as well as travelling abroad for news stories relevant to the Westcountry and travel features for the travel pages.

She now operates as a freelance photographer mainly covering the Westcountry including the Isles of Scilly, but also further afraid and abroad.

Her work appears in regional and national papers and magazines and has appeared in papers in the US and Australia including photographs of the Boscastle flash flood in 2004. In 2009 The Western Morning News won EDF Front Page of the year with her image on a story of a suspected TB virus in cows.

Her assignments have taken her all over the South West and beyond including France, Holland, Norway, India, Nepal and Afghanistan.

Recent exhibitions include, Sterts Theatre & Arts Centre - On Photojournalism, 2004. Archie Browns 2014, during the Truro Spring festival - 'On assignment in India', which went on to be shown at Sterts Theatre & Arts Centre, for one month during Oct/Nov 2014. Also at Sterts Theatre & Arts Center for one month Oct/Nov 2015 - 'Nepal Earthquake' on assignment with ShelterBox. Proceeds from the exhibition went to ShelterBox. And 'Music in art' exhibition, collaborating with two other artists at Sterts Theatre & Arts Centre in May 2019, combing her collections of music related photographs and oil paintings.
